KH Khurshid Remembered in Srinagar Seminar

Srinagar, March 15-The services rendered to the cause of Kashmir by the late AJK President K.H.Khurshid were eulogised on the occasion of his 21st death anniversary through a seminar which was organized by Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader & Chairman Jammu Kashmir National Front Nayeem Ahmad Khan. Speaking on the occasion, Nayeem Khan described the dedication and honesty with which Mr Khurshid worked throughout his political struggle.
He mentioned the praise received by Khurshid from Quaid- e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who said "Pakistan was made by me, my Secretary and his type writer". Nayeem Khan said during his tenure as the president of the Azad Jammu Kashmir, Khurshid formulated a political system and gave right of vote to the people of AJK of which he became the first elected president in 1961. “He also abolished jagirdari system from AJK and allocated all land to the landless people. His honesty could be judged from the fact that he stayed in a rented accommodation throughout his life.”
Nayeem Khan said, Khurshid gave a plan for the freedom of Kashmir through which the government of AJK could be recognised as the representative of the people of the entire state of J& K so that when people start the freedom struggle, this government would represent the case at all international levels and India would not get a chance to attack Pakistan. Nayeem Khan praised the services of late K H Khurshid and saluted his services and unanimously felt that he gifted democracy and democratic rights to the people of AJK noting that franchising the people was a corner stone in his political career. Nayeem Khan lauded his vision and said his line of political struggle has vindicated itself and the only remedy for the oppressed Kashmiris is to get united and solidly converge on one point agenda of self determination. Nayeem Khan said the Jammu Kashmir is indivisible and any solution which does not respect the aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir is unacceptable and Kashmiris un fettered right to self determination is non negotiable. Khan expressed serious concern over the continuing state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and demanded that the promise of zero tolerance should be implemented in word and deed.”
Nayeem Khan strongly condemned the recent killings at Bomai and Srinagar and demanded that the administration should bring the perpetrators to justice.
Other members who also spoke on the occasion included Fida Hasnain (Noted Historian), Noor Ul Hassan ( Ex-Chief Conservator forests / Historian), Z G Mohammad (Columnist), Dr. Sheikh Showkat (Prof. in Kashmir University, Deptt. Of Law) , Mohammad Yousuf Khan ( colleague of K H Khurshid), Riyaz Masroor (Senior Journalist) & Ajaz-Ul-Haq (Journalist) besides other prominent columnists, writers, journalists & advocates.
