Thirteen Azad Kashmir parliamentarians resign

MUZAFFARABAD: Thirteen members of the Azad Kashmir legislative assembly, including the assembly speaker, presented their resignations to their party heads on Friday.
The turmoil erupted against the appointment of a senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party - Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Yasin as advisor to the prime minister on local government.
The resigning members protested against the allocation of the local government portfolio to a non-elected member.
Nine members of the Muslim Conference Forward Bloc, including speaker of the assembly along with three members of the People’s Muslim League presented their resignations to their party heads.
Addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad, president Muslim Conference Forward Bloc Raja Faruq Haider confirmed the resignations.
The final decision will be made on August 24 after the meeting of the parliamentary party.
He maintained that the appointment of any non-elected member will not be accepted and demanded that the prime minister cancel the notification of the appointment
