Building infrastructure does not legitimize India’s Kashmir rule

Srinagar, Feb 15: Rebuffing Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s offer asking pro-freedom groups to join hands with the government, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Sunday said that developmental activates like establishing rail service cannot dilute Kashmir issue. “It seems Sonia is not aware of Indian history or she is giving such statements in the wake of ensuing parliamentary elections. She should not forget last year’s mass uprising in Kashmir valley in which millions of people came on to streets openly against Indian occupation,” said of JKLF, About the inauguration of Srinagar International Airport and setting up of rail link to North Kashmir, JKLF said Government of India should not forget its history where in trains and other services failed to legitimize the illegal occupation of British rulers in the country. “British rulers built most of the infrastructure in India. But finally they succumbed in front of the resistance movement. If Government of India feels that such developmental activities will dilute freedom struggle of Kashmir then they are in a dreadful delusion,” JKLF said. These steps were not a favour to Kashmiri people who pay taxes for developmental activities in the State.“Such measures would not help in resolving the Kashmir issue,” JKLF said.
