China to provide $ 300 millions to AJK quake affectees

China has pledged an amount of three hundred million dollars for the reconstruction of earthquake affected areas in Azad Kashmir.
An agreement to this effect was signed in Islamabad this morning.

The pledged amount will be used for the development of Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot cities under the Urban Development programme.Pakistan will also contribute fifty three million dollars in the programme.
Out of the total pledged amount over190 million dollars will be spent on ninety projects in Muzaffarabad city, 123.55 million dollars on fifty projects in Bagh and over thirty eight million dollars will be spent for the execution of thirty projects in Rawalkot.Speaking on the occasion,

Federal Minister for Kashmir affairs and Northern Areas Qamar uz -Zaman Kaira said the present government is determined to expedite the reconstruction work in the quake affected areas, particularly the urban areas of the AJK.
Lauding the role of Chinese companies in the reconstruction of quake affected areas, he said China is an all weather friend of Pakistan and it always stood by Pakistan in the difficult times.
The Minister said Pakistan offered a conducive environment for investment and hoped more Chinese companies will explore the potential sectors of Pakistan. He assured the Chinese companies that they will be provided full security in the quake affected and other areas of the country.
He appreciated the ERRA work for the reconstruction of quake affected areas and said the authority’s effort is a role model for the entire world. He assured the ERRA of government’s support to complete all its targets.

AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan said the October eight quake caused a colossal damage in Azad Kashmir but the timely response of the Pakistani government and the international community helped reduce the sufferings of the affected people in a short span of time.
He thanked the Chinese government for being in the forefront in the reconstruction activities, proving to be the time-tested friend of Pakistan and the Kashmiri people.

AJK Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan hoped the urban development project will bring a positive change in the lives of the people of AJK by creating ample economic opportunities for them.
He expressed the hope that the Chinese construction companies under the urban development programme will complete their work well in time that will ensure safe housing, improved city environment and modern physical and social facilities to the local people.

Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui assured his government’s continuous support for Pakistan in different sectors, including the reconstruction of quake affected areas.
He said his country is encouraging the Chinese companies to make investments in Pakistan.

Deputy Chairman ERRA Sajjad Akram said ERRA is committed to achieve the target of “build back better” and it is already spending an amount of thirty billion rupees on urban development projects and soon there will be a visible change in the living standards of the people.
