Delay in Kashmir settlement may be dangerous: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that any further delay in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute will have dangerous consequences.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a public gathering in Srinagar said, “The successive regimes of India have been lingering on the dispute since 1947. They even used pressure tactics, killings and harassment of Kashmiris to suppress their struggle for right of self-determination but failed to deter the resolve of Kashmiris. If New Delhi lingers the dispute, it could have serious repercussions.”
The APHC Chairman pointed out that the resolution of the dispute was not possible without including Kashmiris’ genuine leadership in the dialogue process between Pakistan and India. “New Delhi should not get buoyed by the results of recently conducted farcical elections and should take lessons from last year’s uprising for freedom. It is high time for resolution of the dispute,” he said.
Mirwaiz stated that Indian police and troops had been ruling the occupied territory, adding, “The troopers have been unleashing reign of terror on the Kashmiri people. They recently killed two innocent youth in Bomai and are still roaming freely.”
In view of restrictions on Friday prayers, Mirwaiz urged the Organisation of Islamic Conference to call a special session to help restore the religious rights of Kashmiris. The occupation authorities had imposed undeclared curfew on eight consecutive Fridays, preventing people from offering prayers at Jamia Masjid. “If authorities try to snatch our religious rights, we will be forced to launch a campaign and New Delhi will be responsible for its consequences,” he added.
