The 2009 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records has termed Kashmir as the "largest militarized territorial dispute in the world".
The Guinness Book of world records quoting US Intelligence Agency (CIA) fact book says, "The dispute between China, India and Pakistan for the Kashmir region is the largest and most militarized territorial dispute currently taking place on the planet earth."
The record book reads that the dispute continues 'despite the massive earthquake that devastated the area in 2005 killing 80,000 people'.
"At any time, up to one million troops confront each other across the Line of Control that divide two parts of Kashmir being administered by India and Pakistan respectively," the book mentions on page No 137 in the chapter 'modern life' under the banner 'World at War'.
It is in place to mention here that arch rivals, India and Pakistan have fought three wars on Kashmir. They have fought in 1947, 1965, and 1971 and were close to another war in 1999. India and China have also fought a war in 1962 over Aksai China, a part of Kashmir now under China's occupation.
