kashmirawareness.org - Voice of Kashmir Launched

Dear readers and friends of Kashmir,Welcome to the website of World Kashmir Awareness. This site will serve as a source of background information, a medium of real-time information and a platform for interactive discussion on events taking place in and about Kashmir. It will promote open and candid expression of various shades of political opinion. We will attempt to demystify the geopolitical conundrum of the Kashmir dispute which has been confounded by extrinsic elements, interests, and players. We hold that the Kashmiris being the only legitimate owners of their country should be the only arbiters of their destiny. Any dictation or solutions imposed by others; or covetous claims staked out by others are preposterous, unjust and untenable in the long run. India must bow to the deeply held liberation wishes of the 13 million people of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmiris must be granted free and unfettered exercise of their inalienable right of self-determination. The international community on their part must support the Kashmiris to acquire that right without further loss of life, limb and liberty. Kashmir has seen indescribable suffering since 1947, more so since the reign of terror unleashed by the occupation forces since 1990 which has claimed 130,000 innocent lives and inflicted physical and psychosocial abuse on millions of the once most peaceful people anywhere in the world. The policy of systematic state terror, fomentation of violence, promotion of corruption and cultural onslaught has led to a state of economic ruin, social stress and cultural disfiguration. An entire society has been brought to the brink. We cannot stand by and allow our nation to inexorably slide in to the abyss. We must collectively act and inform the world of the catastrophe that is taking place in the occupied Kashmir. With peaceful expression banned, freedom to travel abroad to tell the real story severely restricted, access to foreign media to report on the misdeeds of the Indian administration denied, we the expatriate Kashmiris have a moral responsibility to tell the world the true story of our people. The professionals and the professors; the engineers and the doctors; the teachers and the students, all alike, have a responsibility to the motherland. We must all tell the story of our people back home, to the people all around the world. Please come join us in telling the story of our people in a narrative that will be convincing and compelling for all the fair-minded people that care about the plight of the people. You are welcome to contribute stories that are real, happening to real people. You can tell the world what, when, where, why and how it happened, as you saw it saw in real time. You can narrate a moving story or upload a powerful picture for all to see. And finally you may want to participate in a discussion that brings forth various facets of a political issue. We certainly would like to welcome you to write thoughtful articles on various aspects of Kashmir issue and Kashmiri society. We hope and pray that with God’s blessings and your support we will succeed in giving voice to the voiceless in Kashmir and furthering the cause of peace, justice and freedom in Kashmir and in the region.
