Sardar Haji Yaqoob took oath as new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir here on Tuesday January 06, 2009.
Earlier, Sardar Yaqoob was elected new leader of the House in Azad Kashmir Assembly.
Sardar Haji Yaqoob secured 31 whereas Sardar Attique got 17 votes in no-trust motion moved against Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad.
AJK President Raja Zulqarnan Khan administered the oath. Addressing on the occasion, Sardar Yaqoob Khan thanked the members of the AJK Assembly and all the leaders of the coalition government for supporting and electing him as the new leader of the House in the AJK Assembly.
He showed his will and commitment to address the issues of the masses on priority bases, saying that the burning issues, including the reconstruction of Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawlakot cities would be among his top priorities.
He also said he would visit across the AJK and hold meetings with the common people in order to identify their problems.
He said that the Kashmir issue would be the foremost priority of his government and all possible sources, political and diplomatic, would be used to highlight the Kashmir issue on international level.
