First public-sector FM for Azad Kashmir

The FM station will be first of its kind in the public sector in Mirpur and a 192-feet high FM Radio mast has been installed on the premises of the Mirpur Radio Station in Azad Kashmir.



MIRPUR: Transmission of the first state-run FM-93 radio in Azad Kashmir's largest model city of Mirpur will formally go on air after its inauguration on September 30, official sources said.

According to the program, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, KANA and Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Qamaruz Zaman Kaira will inaugurate the FM radio station at the broadcasting house of Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur, APP learnt on Thursday.
AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan will preside during the ceremony that is coinciding with the seventh anniversary of Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur. Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Murtaza Solangi and Director Programs PBC, besides other senior officials of the organisation will also be present.
‘The PBC-sponsored FM-93 radio began its test transmission from the premises of Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur station recently,’ Station Director Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur, Muhammad Shakeel, informed.
The FM station will be first of its kind in the public sector in Mirpur and a 192-feet high FM Radio mast has been installed on the premises of the Mirpur Radio Station.
Programs of local, national and international interest will be aired through this electronic medium that is fast becoming popular among the people of this region. The Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur covers a vast area of the country besides the occupied Jammu Kashmir.
Muhammad Shakeel said that the Mirpur Radio station has launched various special programs on news and current affairs, apart from other entertainment programs for a younger audience. Radio Forum and Radio Press Conference are two programs that discuss local issues, problems and solutions and has a general audience, while another exclusive show ‘Honahaar’ is popular among the children.
Since its inception on September 30, 2002 AJK Radio Mirpur airs programs various languages including Gojri, Pahari, Kashmiri and Urdu.
